Porn Valley- I meet Billy Glide on the set of Spunk in the Trunk- the movie Taylor Rain was directing last Friday for Defiance/Torrid. www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=11285.
Glide, who was working with Keeani Lei that morning, has started his own company, Billy Glide Productions and has the second volume out of Billy Glide’s XXX Adventures. The first was done in Big Bear.
“That was fun but the best was Catalina,” he says. “We had Taylor Rain, Missy Monroe, Nadia Styles, Cassie Young and Nick Manning and helicopters, boats, crazy stuff. Taylor ganging up on people. We just go and film spontaneously. Who wants to sit around and wait to do a scene for 8 hours when you can do one when you want? There’s boundaries. We don’t go and get fucked up like everyone thinks. We go, we shoot. We have fun and have a vacation at the same time. Then everyone goes home happy.”
Glide shoots a new adventure about every two months. “Part 2 [of Catalina] is going to be released August 25th,” he says. “That’s through Maximum Exposure, our distributor. Then we’re going to the [Colorado] river September 25-28. We’re going to have house boats and wave runners. We’re going to go invade that place.”
Otherwise, Glide continues to work for other companies. “I’m keeping really, really busy,” he says. There’s no romance at present, he adds. “I haven’t had one in awhile. I’ve had some good ones- but a long time ago one was a nightmare. It was ridiculous.”
Glide got in the business in ’96 but quit last year when he had a relationship with Anais. “It was a good relationship,” he says. “She was a good girlfriend. We moved to Pismo. Then we broke up.” At the time he left the biz, Glide had some money saved up while Anais was contracted under Ninn Worx.
“I was kind of looking for the normal job but it wasn’t me,” says Glide in hindsight. “I wasn’t happy. And so I moved back to Huntington Beach, started my company and started over.”
Glide went to high school with the original Candy Apples. “After high school, I started fucking her and her roommate,” he remembers. “I wasn’t doing porn, and she kind of was. That was back then when you were getting about $150 a scene doing it in a hotel room. I did a scene and one thing lead to another. I got calls. So I thought I’d try working once every two months. I was brand new but I still had a normal job. I got busier and busier and thought I’m going to try this. I quit everything.”
Glide’s pretty much known in Huntington Beach. “They’ll go, hey, why aren’t you at work today? Some people in the gym they’ll give you the look but won’t approach you. You know they know something. Everyone watches porn now. It’s not like in the past when I started and it was stereotyped where you don’t want anyone to know.”
