Porn Valley- I spoke to Laurie Holmes this afternoon. Holmes who’s now sales manager for Hollywood Video, sent me some info on Hollywood’s January DVD release. It’s titled “The Real John Holmes”: The Wonderland Murders Exposed.

Holmes explains that she’s had audio tapes of The King for years that everyone’s tried to get their hands on. “These were tapes that John used when he was working on his autobiography,” Holmes tells me. “This particular segment of the tapes is all about Wonderland, from start to finish. This is John’s side of the story.” Holmes said the tapes were analyzed by the FBI back in 2000. “Their conclusion is also included in the DVD release.”

Much more beyond that, Holmes isn’t saying because, after all, like the opening of Al Capone’s vault, the suspense build up is what’s going to sell the DVD. Holmes also said she got a call from the Feds last month. “The Wonderland movie and everything else that’s going on,” says Holmes. “I don’t want to give it all away but it’s a unique, interesting interactive DVD. They’re going to get to hear John’s side of the story. In the audio tapes he names who did it- it should be interesting.”

Holmes said she’s been holding on to the tapes, looking to do something with them. “It kind of came up- I’m over here at Hollywood now as a sales manager. We kind of came up with the idea.” Holmes tells me the video portion of the DVD is Holmes footage from the vault. “Doing what he does best.”

You get the distinct impression from talking to Laurie Holmes that she wasn’t too excited about Wonderland, the movie, and that’s where we get back to the visit last month from the Feds.

“In fact that’s what the criminal justice department called me about last month,” she says. “Basically they don’t think the LAPD ever wants this case to be solved Or ever wanted it to be solved. I went through a big depression when that movie came out because it was really wrong. Val Kilmer could have played a better John Holmes had he been given a better script. And I didn’t like their conclusion at the end. When I went to go see the movie, there was two other people in the theater. All I could do was say, boo. And all they could do was just be silent. They didn’t depict the right John Holmes or the right facts. It kind of makes you wonder who went to such great lengths to do this movie and why. Somebody went to a lot of great length to contact David Lind [played by Dylan McDermott in the film] who has been in witness protection since 1988. It was a major studio [Lion’s Gate] and they wanted to depict things the way they wanted to depict it.”

Holmes is claiming through conversation with a professor of advanced sexuality that he was told there was every intention of defaming Holmes. “They [Lion’s Gate] were actually offered the audio tapes,” Holmes further claims. “They didn’t want them. They had their movie.”

As far as the Holmes’ tapes go, Laurie says other than the FBI which has analyzed them, no one has heard them up until now. “They’re real; they’re raw and it’s John speaking from the grave. Everyone’s tried to get their hands on them from this documentary to that documentary. But I held on to them.”

Speaking of documentaries, Holmes tells me that her legal issues over the Wadd Documentary have long been settled. “That was done a long time ago,” says Holmes. “Russ [Hampshire whom she sued] and I are friends.”
