Conversations with Renee Richards-10/23/05

Porn Valley- I have a chat with Renee Richards at the KSEX Games this past Saturday. Richards, in the business for about a year, is with www.spieglergirls.com and I ask her what the fuck she was thinking to have named herself after a gender-reassigned tennis player.

Richards, from the UK, says her original porn name was Renee Cox but was advised by Spiegler there were too many Cox in the porn business.

“He said pick a real last name- my auntie had a last name that was Richards so I just went with that.”

I love Richards particularly because she’s one of the few women from the UK I can actually understand in an interview. Richards began her career as a lap dance and model.

“Then I naturally progressed into girl-girl and boy-girl,” she says. In England, Richards worked for companies like Harmony, Private, Rule Britannia, Johnny Rebel, Viv Thomas, Playboy, Spice and Television X. But she’s never worked for Ben Dover, one reason for that being is she doesn’t do anal. The first time Thomas came to the states was in March, then she came back for a couple of weeks in July. This is now her third time back this year. Richards loves working in the U.S.

“It’s better shooting, faster shooting, there’s more companies and better people to work with,” she says. Richards was a rebellious Catholic school girl. And she still has the uniform in her wardrobe.

“Ever whip it out?” I ask.

“You want me to for you?” she laughs. “I still have it.”

Richards remembers the whole guilt trip of her school days.

“You’re guilty for everything,” laughs Richards who broke out sexually at a very early age.

“In England legal age is 16,” she notes. “So I started having fun.” Richards first had sex at the age of 13.”It was in the Dominican Republic on family holiday,” she recalls. “It was an entertainer that worked there. It was on the beach and too many Cuba Libres in an all inclusive hotel. After I got a taste of that I was pretty unstoppable for the first couple of years.”

“So what stopped you?” I ask.

“I just chilled out a little bit,” she says. “Now I do it professionally so I’m not knocking off every bloke I see in the street. Just every other bloke.”

Richards never watched a porn film until she got into the industry.

“I grew up looking at magazines and stuff- I started on the stills side,” she says. “But there was not enough work in stills so I progressed to g/g stills and then g/g films. I did blokes off camera so I figured why not on camera? It’s natural enough.” Richards says a girl named patty Morgan who runs a company in England more or less discovered her.

“I met her at a rock show and did a girl-girl scene for her. Then I did my first boy-girl scene for her as well. She comes over the to the states and says, hey, why don’t you come over and meet Spiegler. The rest his history.”

Richards’ first American scene was for Robby D at Digital Playground.

“It was with Tommy Gunn- he’s a good performer and a nice bloke as well,” says Richards.

Richards also mentions that she has a degree in interior design.

“I can decorate your house for you in the nude as well,” she laughs. “There might be a new market for that.”

Sexually, Richards likes to be eaten out- boy or girl.

“It doesn’t matter with with either,” says Richards. “As long as they’re good at it.” Richards, however, doesn’t do anal.

“That’s the reason I haven’t worked with Ben Dover,” she tells me. “If I don’t enjoy something in my personal life, I don’t really want to do it on camera. You know what I mean? It’s not natural to me. If I enjoy something in my personal life I do it on camera. It shows.”

Richards’ parents also know that she’s in the business.

“My mother saw me on the Internet and that’s how she found out. A gorgeous site as well so that was nice.”

“You have to ask what she was doing on this website,” I say to Richards.

“Exactly,” Richards replies. “So she found that out and I got a text message saying what the fuck do you think you’re doing? That’s my good, Polish Catholic mother. I talked to her and told her it’s not as bad as what you think. I told her about all the tests and how safe it is now. There’s a lot of documentaries in England which make out the industry to be really bad and seedy and stuff. That’s all she’s seen. So I had a good chat with her. She’s not over the moon but at least she’s a lot better than what she was.”
