Family Matters star Jaimee Foxworth represents yet another troubled former child star who is trying to turn her life around. Jaimee Foxworth starred as Judy Winslow on the first four seasons of Family Matters before her character “went upstairs” in 1993 and never came back. Since then, Foxworth turned to alcohol and marijuana.
After being unable to land mainstream roles, this former child star turned to porn movies in order to make ends meet. Foxworth starred in several porn movies under the name “Crave.” Eventually, she grew weary of the adult industry and is seeking a return to mainstream acting.
Like many former child stars, the parents may in part to blame for Foxworth’s situation. According to NNDB, Judy Winslow’s character was cut for budget reasons. Her bankrupt parents had been asking for more money from the show and were denied when Family Matters chose not to develop her character. After graduating from high school, a judge allowed Foxworth’s trust fund to be used to pay off her parents’ debt. She was never able to use her money, as it had been used to bail out her family. Her case is somewhat reminiscent of former child star Macaulay Culkin whose parents squandered his earnings in legal disputes over his money.
Foxworth has also struggled with substance abuse. After her family squandered her trust fund, she turned to alcohol and marijuana for comfort. Like many former child stars including Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady), and Haley Joel Osment, she struggled with substance abuse. Yet her case is unique in that “Crave” relied on alcohol to survive filming the porn movies. Foxworth has since demonstrated her commitment to sobriety by appearing on this season’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew on VH1.
Foxworth has abandoned her career in the porn industry. Although she needed the money, the work was starting to wear on her conscience. As she told IMDB, “I’m done with being Crave. I haven’t done a movie in a while. It’s all behind me now. I’m more religious and I’m focusing on serious acting again.” Jaimee Foxworth is now working for her mother’s talent agency while taking mainstream auditions. Although she’s made mistakes, she is only 29 and has her whole life
