MONTREAL – A teenage former prostitute offered lurid details of a motel-room encounter with a former Quebec City radio host charged with sexually assaulting a teen prostitute and obtaining sexual services from two teenage girls.

The 16-year-old girl broke down several times Monday as she recounted the November 2002 meeting with Robert Gillet, then the leading radio personality in the provincial capital.

As her father sat in the public gallery, the girl told the court she engaged in vaginal intercourse, anal sex and urination showers.

She also told the jury trial Gillet forced her to have painful anal sex, causing her to become disoriented and light-headed.

“I no longer knew where I was,” said the teen, whose identity is protected by a court order.

The teen said Gillet either didn’t hear her or didn’t want to hear her when she told him she didn’t want to perform a sexual act. She said she heard Gillet say he was sorry before leaving the motel.

Gillet’s case is taking place in Montreal because of pre-trial publicity in Quebec City that surrounded the case. In December 2002, police busted an alleged juvenile-prostitution ring and charged several well-known people, including Gillet.

In an admission presented to the jury, Gillet acknowledged he paid to have sex with one of the complainants, but not the girl who took the stand on Monday.

He also says the sex was consensual and that the girl was older than 18.

Crown prosecutor Genevieve Lacroix said a 15-year-old girl, who had been placed in a group home by provincial youth protection officials, had dinner with Gillet and two other men at a Quebec City restaurant in 2002.

The Crown said there was a sexual encounter at a motel partially owned by the radio host.

Lacroix told court that while the girl found the sexual activities normal, there was one she refused to consent to but that Gillet performed nonetheless.

Lacroix said Gillet threw money on the bed and left the girl crying. Lacroix added Gillet had another paid sexual encounter with a different teenage girl.

On Monday, the 16-year-old witness testified in a barely audible voice that she ran away from home in Quebec City when she was 14 and came to Montreal where she met a man who paid her to perform live on the Internet.

She said she met another girl at the group home who introduced her to a businessman who paid the teens to have sex with him and a friend. She said another man introduced her to Gillet.

Defence lawyer Jacques Larochelle challenged the girl’s credibility during cross-examination.

He asked her if police “had to work from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. to get a written statement from you.”

The girl replied, “Yes.”

Larochelle repeatedly suggested the only time the girl had spent with Gillet was at a restaurant, with several other people.

The lawyer also asked the witness why she didn’t mention her encounter with Gillet in her initial statements to police.

“I was afraid,” the girl replied.

“Because he was well-known … because he had money.”

Andre Pelissier was the first person to be sentenced after police busted the alleged prostitution ring.

Attorney General Marc Bellemare has said he will appeal a 3½-year prison sentence given to Pelissier.

Due to time already served since his arrest, Pelissier has about one year left behind bars.

More than 40 alleged clients and pimps have been arrested in the case.
