Pastor to Rehash his Super Bowl Porn Days; Looks Like He Didn’t Do Too Bad at Domino’s, Either

from www.lodinews.com – Want to hear all about porn? Well then, go to church.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Pastor Tim Stevenson is tackling the subject of pornography during three services at Horizon Community Church. He will talk about the days in high school and college when he indulged in Penthouse magazine and how he overcame looking at porn.

He’ll also discuss the evils of porn, especially the way it can destroy marriages.

“It’s out there, and the church needs to talk about it,” Stevenson said. “It’s in your face. This is a reality.”

Stevenson’s sermons on Sunday are part of an event called National Porn Sunday, sponsored by an organization called XXXchurch. He will tell his own story regarding pornography, resurrecting his sermons from the first Porn Sunday in 2005. But this time, there’s a new twist — female interest

“Now, more porn is aimed directly at women (gay and straight),” he said, adding that 30 percent of women in America are either involved in the pornography industry or addicted to porn.

“It is a drug,” Stevenson said. “It shoots off sensories. You will get more and more addicted to porn, and it will get worse. It’s not the first look that gets you. It’s the second and third.”

Not only are women becoming more interested in pornography, but TV shows are getting more racy. Stevenson said he really enjoyed the TBS series “Men of a Certain Age” during its first season last year. But this year the series has become too sex-themed.

Stevenson recalls bringing a Penthouse home while he was in high school when his father saw it.

“He told me, ‘Make sure your brother doesn’t see it,'” Stevenson said.

Today, he’s disappointed at his father’s comment.

“I wish he beat the crap out of me,” he said.

In addition to Stevenson’s colorful comments about porn, Horizon will show a video produced by xxxchurch.com, in which current and former National Football League players will discuss why they believe pornography is wrong.

Craig Gross, founder of xxxchurch.com, says that pornography accounts for 23 percent of retail sales online, 54 percent of pastors admit to struggling with online pornography, and 40 million people visit porn sites daily.

“We have a National Day of Prayer and a National Day of Fasting,” Gross said on his website. “The church needs a national day of porn, with direct and honest talk about the issues surrounding pornography.”

Stevenson advises parents to check their children’s cell phones and obtain their children’s computer passwords to see if they’re looking at porn. There is also some special software in which a person can designate two individuals to be e-mailed every time the registrant accesses a pornographic website. The idea is to hold the user morally accountable for using a porn site. The link is available at www.xxxchurch.com.
