CINCINNATI — The leader of a group that fights pornography said he will register as a lobbyist to avoid any appearance of breaking state rules.
The official watchdog for the state Legislature says Phil Burress did not break any state laws when he met twice this year with state senators to urge passage of a bill restricting strip clubs.
But Legislative Inspector Tony Bledsoe says Burress’s actions come close to lobbying, so he should register to be safe.
Burress is head of the Citizens for Community Values. He said he’ll pay the $25 registration fee.
An elections complaint related to his actions to get the bill passed is still pending. A message seeking comment was left with the lobbyist who filed the complaint.
