SAN DIEGO — from www.sdgln.com – Drag queen extraordinaire Chi Chi LaRue, one of the biggest icons of the adult entertainment industry as a prolific porn director and actor and DJ, is coming to America’s Finest City this weekend for a racy show at Eden’s night spot in Hillcrest.
Chi Chi will be the DJ and flamboyant hostess of “The E List: UNZIPPED with Brent Everett,” co-starring adult film stars Jayden Grey and Brandon Wilde.
“UNZIPPED” is scheduled to begin sometime after 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.
Chi Chi took time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions for her fans, and as usual she was outrageous and outspoken. To read the complete interview, the R-rated version, click HERE. The following Q&A has been shortened and is suitable for most audiences.
Q. Describe your show, “The E List: UNZIPPED with Brent Everett,” coming to Eden in Hillcrest and how “adult” will it be?
Chi Chi: Bringing the porn, the pop and the party to San Diego! No one under 21 admitted!
Q. Who is the inspiration for Chi Chi? Did you have a role model?
Chi Chi: I’d be lying if I said I didn’t take a little inspiration from Divine, but my role models are all freaks, drag queens and underdogs.
Q. Adult films have become much more mainstream these days than when you started in the business. How and why did this occur?
Chi Chi: Because now anyone who can pick up a camera is making adult videos. So it’s not so taboo to talk about anymore. Which is not necessarily a good thing.
Q. You have won numerous awards as best director. What is your favorite film, and why?
Chi Chi: I love them all. They’re all my children. Even the bad ones.
Q. Do you have any favorite performers, or least favorite? Have you ever banned any actors from your sets?
Chi Chi: I love them all. They’re all my children. Even the bad ones. LOL … I kicked a door in once when people were doing drugs in a bathroom on my set. They were all instantly fired.
Q. How do you find “fresh meat,” so to speak?
Chi Chi: In your nearest grocer’s deli. More often than not, the fresh meat comes to me. I get hundred of e-mails a week from boys wanting to do porn.
Q. You also have won awards as a performer. Which is your favorite performance?
Chi Chi: Playing the nurse in the bisexual movie, “Revenge of the Bi Dolls.”
Q. Are there any taboos left in adult films? Some directors seem to be pushing the limits, and what about you?
Chi Chi: I’ve always pushed the limits. I’m the first to do everything.
Q. You got into the adult film business at a time when HIV/AIDS was new in our vocabulary. How has this changed the business since the 1980s?
Chi Chi: I’ve always had performers wear condoms since my very first movie. Nowadays, bareback porn is really becoming just another fetish.
Q. Weren’t you among the first in porn to advocate for condom use in movies?
Chi Chi: Yes.
Q. With so much experience making adult movies, why haven’t you made standard movies?
Chi Chi: Sex is more fun. I’ve been in “standard” movies and it’s a lot of “hurry up and wait.” I’m a go gettin’ girl!
Q. Chi Chi LaRue is now a cottage industry with adult movies, retail stores, website, blog and more. What’s next?
Chi Chi: Possibly the opening act for Lady Gaga?
Q. What is your life like away from the limelight? Are you partnered, married, dating or single?
Chi Chi: I’m single. I love my bed. I love a good Riesling. And I love Judge Judy. My relationships are with my friends, my family and myself. And booze.
Q. If you could have a dinner party for four people, dead or alive, who are the other three guests you would invite?
Chi Chi: Cher. Lourdes Ciccone. Pete Burns.
Q. Do you have any regrets?
Chi Chi: No regrets, just somethings that I may have done differently.
