UK – from www.staffs.ac.uk – A Staffordshire University student received the shock of his life when a porn star sent him a reply to a poem he wrote about her.

Alex MazeyAlex Mazey (pictured) wrote “Porn stars don’t read” about US porn queen Sasha Grey after he saw a picture of her holding a book called: “Existentialism from Dostoevsky to Sartre.”

Creative Writing student Mazey, 20, claims to have written the poem “as a reaction to the social stigma associated with pornography.”

He said: “A lot of the best poetry throughout history has always been seen as challenging the social norms or status quo of the time and I don’t think we do that enough anymore in poetry, let alone society in general.”

Mazey decided to send Grey the poem through her YouTube page “to hopefully put a smile on the face of someone who looks pretty angry all of the time.”

And Grey sent him a reply a few days later, saying ”I don’t drink coffee” – a reference to a line in the poem.

Mazey, originally from Oxford, said: “Getting a response from someone you admire always makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.”

His poem is set to be published in a new literary magazine, called Nenomagazine, in April, at http://nenomagazine.wordpress.com
