from www.myfoxhouston.com – An online sex shop has sold an 18-karat gold sex toy to a New Zealand woman for more than $1,500. It is reportedly the first sold in New Zealand and second in Australia.
The online sex shop Sexgear.co.nz said in a statement that the gold toy, Yva, is so rare that it was custom made by the Swedish company Lelo. The company also stated that despite the economy its business is booming.
Natalie Blakemore, Brand Manager for the company, said the key to success is the growing popularity of buying online. “People are becoming more and more comfortable buying online, and that’s ideal for our range of products where privacy and discretion is so important.”
The anonymous buyer paid $2,229 New Zealand dollars ($1,527 U.S.) for the sex toy. Stuff.co.nz posted a photo of the oval toy.
The UK Times reported earlier this year that luxury sex toys are increasingly popular as the embarrassment around them fades. The popularity can be traced back to the the “Sex and the City” TV show. And new toys are more “egg-shaped, lustrous and modern.”
