Miami Beach, FL (CNS) – Jens Hoffman’s film has been one of the most talked about in the Miami International Film Festival. With a title like “9 to 5: Days in Porn”, it’s no wonder why. “The movie’s about the porn industry, the adult industry,” said the documentary’s filmmaker.
“It’s the story of 10 different characters who have parallel stories who come together in the end.” The film focuses on the people behind the controversial billion-dllar industry, including a teenager waiting to turn 18 and become a porn star and a student who gave up her Political Science studies for a career in the adult industry.
Hoffman says the film really goes deep into the lives of these characters while at the same time maintaining personal privacy. According to the director, there’s some things these porn stars don’t like to show. “We got access to their daily lives, which is good for the movie. But there’s still a lot we didn’t use in the movie because it’s not about exploiting them,” he said. “There were definitely some situations we felt weird being in. Of course, there were funny and disgusting situations too.”
The film, which found a U.S. distributor just a few weeks ago, is having it’s U.S. premiere at the film festival. The screenings for the film were sell-outs and Hoffman says it means a lot to him to have the film playing in the country as well as in Miami. “The film festival is just the perfect place for us to be. It’s such an important market and this is such a good, respected festival,” he said.
