Porn Valley- I had a chat with Max Hardcore, www.maxhardcore.com recently [photo courtesy of KSEX Radio]. Max was telling me that he was on a tear to get all his Euro titles up on his site in a streaming and downloadable format. “And also a pay by minute model,” he adds.
“That seems to be the way to go. Things are loosening up a bit but they’re tightening up in other ways. I heard that CC Bill was not going to have any sites with urination or heavy bondage. In my opinion nothing’s going to happen. But if it does, we’ll get a new processor, I guess. But streaming, baby, that’s the way to go. And we’re just doing it in the Windows format. Not the DVX format.
“I don’t know that enough people really are totally dialed in with that shit [DVX],” he continues. “You have to download a bunch of bullshit with it, too. We’re continuing to put out our European versions of every titles. They’re available through my website and we have a new designed tour, as well, where you can clearly tour either the movie titles or just tour the website that makes no mention of the movies.” The two elements were combined before, says Max, but that was confusing some people. “People are easily confused,” he laughs. “Otherwise, we’ve got a helluva selection of European titles. I don’t think anybody’s matching us worldwide.” Max says he also includes a message board on his site so that fans can make comments.
Max also checks the German sites but can’t figure them out. “You don’t know what you’re going to get or not get,” he says. “A couple of our members have checked them out as well, but can’t seem to get much traction with them, either.
“I’m pretty pleased with what we’ve accomplished the past year,” he continues. “We went from zero Euro titles available by download to I think where we’re pushing 50 titles right now. We’re cranking them out at about three a week. That’s what’s been keeping me real busy. Otherwise I’ve been staying out of the fray and the dramas. Especially what goes on between the girls. I’ll sit with my morning coffee and read that crazy stuff. The water buffalos made for some interesting reading.”
Max and I exchange some thoughts on drugs. I tell him I’ve never seen instances of drug taking on porn sets although I’ll run into people who look like they’ve got a good jump on it for the weekend. From a reliability standpoint, Max is of the belief that the drug problem in the industry has gotten worse. “I’ve been talking to a few people here and there to get a gauge on it,” he says.
Max is also of the opinion that a newly formed porn division within the DOJ is going to take a long time to get up to speed. “I think it’s just more bullshit out of Washington,” he states. “They’re showing that these guys are going to be doing something. It’s going to take ’em a year or two and there might be some sacrificial lambs but I really think it’s a p.r. gesture. As much as some of them might want to do good, others don’t give a fuck. It’s, okay, we’ve got to do something to appease the right wing elements of society, here, the people that put us in office. So let’s form another department. I don’t expect anything to come of it, though. I know they’re going to keep going after Rob Black. That’s the way they do things.
“But new indictments?” he asks. “I don’t know. I’m definitely not worried about them coming down with multiple indictments or any of that shit. If they really wanted to get people they could get them on the existing 2257 regs. If you go to some of these companies- oh Jesus- they’re so out of whack. It’s like the old Al Capone-thing. They couldn’t get him on being a gangster so they got him on tax charges. I could see them doing something like that. That’s easy enough to do, is, okay, we’re going to inspect your 2257 regs. And even the way they’re written is complete horseshit. But now they really want to put your nuts in a vice with the new regs.”
