And now Axel Braun, fresh off of contract, has entered into a non-exclusive agreement with Sin City to shoot movies for both their Sin City and Mayhem labels.
Influenced by French cinema from Leo Carax’s LES AMANTS DU PONT-NEUF, and American greats like Scorsese and Hitchcock, Axel’s unique style is salacious with an acute attention to detail and form.
“We’re thrilled to have him here” said Sin City general manager Scott Justice. “The caliber of his work is consistent with the image we’ve branded for this company. I’m looking forward to seeing his first title.”
Starting with Mayhem, Axel is directing an all anal project first, entitled Analogy, which is scheduled to release in August. He is also in development on a more stylized high-end project for Sin City’s new hybrid feature line for September release.
“We’ve shifted our features from being dialogue heavy couples features to high end hardcore art vehicles which highlight both a visual stimulation and the kind of sex that put our Mayhem line on top of the market,” explains Sin City Publicist Devan Cypher. “The new line drips with a visceral immediacy. The viewer can connect with it immediately, and very few people inside of adult have the skill and the ability to create what we are looking for. Axel has the eye and the talent to do this kind of movie just right and we’re glad to get him.”
As for the most epicurean director alive still actively working in porn, he couldn’t be happier to have discovered that he and Sin City were such a great fit.
“They’re really cool people,” Braun said. “It’s good to have open lines of communication with the people you work with and to be supported in what you create.”
