Porn Valley- There was a story this past week that porn actress?…starlet?…performer?…personality Mary Carey was in Washington to attend an annual fund raiser put on by the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Indications were this was a sincere effort borne of an honest interest in politics. From existing reports, there were no flashy antics involved. Ms. Carey did not put on a show for the other attendees nor display her most obvious assets to the gathering of high profile politicians and hangers on.

The report said Ms. Carey wore a modest black floor length gown decorated with a Republican elephant lapel pin. Ms. Carey, who previously tested the political waters by running for governor of California as an independent candidate, said she had been a Republican for a couple of days.

The temptation here is to toss in cheap jokes at the expense of Ms. Carey. After all, most straight Americans consider women who work in porn on about the same level as street walkers and consider their male handlers the same as pimps. Any suggestion these people should be taken seriously is generally met with incredulity and contempt. These are, after all, people who engage in the public display of sex for money. They must have a lack of moral connection somewhere or they would make their living in a more respectable manner, as example, working as a minimal wage slave at Burger King.

On the other hand, one has to consider the event at which Ms. Carey had chosen to make an appearance. She was associating with lawyers and politicians, certainly and unquestionably the lowest forms of life on the face of the earth. So one could make the case Ms. Carey was lowering her social standing by attending such a function.

In the interest of full disclosure here, I must admit I have some knowledge of Ms. Carey from her professional career. I am not sure if I heard of her first from her previous campaign for the governorship of California or if I was aware of her from exposure on the Web.

I have seen some of her web photos and she is certainly cute enough. I do not know if she restricts herself to softcore or if she does the complete trip. In any case, it is only a matter of degree and matters little. There is some suspicion she entered the campaign for Governor of California as nothing more than a publicity stunt to advance her porn career. That may sound an un-serious reason for entering politics, but there are elected officials in Washington who became candidates on more questionable grounds.

As I understand the conditions for qualifying as candidate for Governor of California on the recent election, all that was required was a registration fee of several thousand dollars and possible a few signatures on a form petition.

Ms. Carey was able to qualify and gathered the votes of 11,061 concerned California residents. Arnold won the office with 4,158,194.

As a gubernatorial wannabe, there appears to have been a few questions raised regarding the integrity of the candidate in question. Ms. Carey claims that, regarding her assets, what you see is what you get. She is all natural with no artificial additives. On the other hand, she is on record having admitted her natural charms have been technologically enhanced.

This supposed discrepancy brings the issue of her honesty into question. Should we not remember out honored President William Jefferson Clinton, when caught with his trousers down around his ankles and a bimbo kissing his privates, insisted a lie about sex is not a lie. Should we then hold Ms. Carey to a higher standard of honesty than a sitting President? I think not.

I believe what a woman chooses to do in an attempt to make herself more attractive or more commercially viable is her own business and only a cad would insist on prying where he has no justification.

In researching this commentary, I do not just write these off the top of my head, I did some research and came across information that Ms. Carey had made several appearances on Howard Stern and, in consequence, taken several IQ tests which she failed to pass. It was also claimed her mother is certifiably retarded and her grandmother is also a low watt bulb. Indications are then there are no potential rocket scientists available in the immediate family of Ms. Carey.

She comes from a family of less than stellar intellectuals. I do not see this as a handicap for someone expressing political ambitions. It has long been provable by objective statistics that Capitol Hill is a piece of real estate where the intellectual level of this nation drops through the floor. Were Ms. Carey to attain her ambition and eventually achieve success as a congressional representative from the great state of California, there can be no doubt she would fit right in with prevailing intellectual standards.

Any impartial observer will agree the Republican Party has a need for Ms. Carey. For too long the Grand Old Party has been the political party of the minority.

Casual observation should explain why this is the case. Every political party has its fair share of scandal. With the Democrats it is most often the case that scandal is at the core a matter of sexual nature.

Again President Clinton springs to mind, though he is not the only example. Republicans, on the other hand, most often come to grief over matters of financial mismanagement or over foreign policy disaster.

Our current President George W. Bush has scrupulously avoided scandal for the most part, but it begins to look as though it may be foreign policy that does him in. This tells us much about the major political parties.

The Democrats are at root interested in sex while the Republicans are only interested in power and money, and therein lies the reason the Republicans remain the party of the minority.

The Republicans have forgotten the basics as symbolized by the birds and the bees. Ms. Carey is a active performer in the porn industry, an industry that would not exist but for the birds and the bees. Ms. Carey can help Republicans rediscover how to again become the majority party.

As a candidate for political office, Ms. Carey is cuter than Arnold, she is obviously smarter than George W. Bush, and she is probably more fun in bed than is the Vice-president. I would vote for her any day. More than that, I would agree work as a volunteer on her political campaign. Forget Hillary. How about Carey in 2008?
