Steel, who make a big impression on Playboy’s Night Calls last week, has now shot for Astrux on at least three occasions. But besides that, Steel got accepted at UCLA and that was her original intention.
From the Gene files 4/1/2005: “The story I get a real kick out of is about this girl who’s made her debut of sorts on the Tom Leykis radio show in L.A. This girl’s apparently created a website, allowing guys to donate money to help send her to college. Lenny [from Astrux] says it gets better. He met her, and she’s now decided to become a porn star and is going to work under the name Ashley Steel. I’ve seen one of her pix, and I think Steel’s got the potential to get past graduate school and into a doctorate program.”
So far, Steel has shot only girl-girl scenes but Lenny from Astrux thinks she’ll be adding boy scenes with her boyfriend to her repertoire. According to Lenny, his partner Phil was listening to Tom Leykis. “She was on there promoting her website which back then was www.sendandreatoucla.com. We went on the site and thought she was pretty cute. We e-mailed her and said if you’re looking to raise money you could…and she already had some provocative pictures on her site. We were like if you really want to do it, we could put in some videos and you could make some money like that. We met up with her.”
Lenny was of the suspicion that Steel had made some prior contacts in the business. “She was looking for the right opportunity- I know she went to L.A. Direct like six months before she met with us. But she held off. We met her and I guess she liked us. We went from there.” Lenny, who first shot Steel in April, notes that Steel’s first movie comes out tomorrow from Metro. It’s called Who’s Next in Porn.
“She has a nice little fan base going,” states Lenny. “She was signing at the Metro booth at Erotica L.A. And her boyfriend told me she was at Night of the Stars last night. She was also on Playboy radio last week. Her website got 12,000 hits that one day she was on the show. She’s going pretty good.” Lenny imagines that he’ll be shooting Steel some time soon. “Metro really likes her. She’s very professional and does really good scenes.”
Now that Steel has gotten into UCLA she’ll be moving closer from Orange County. Lenny believes that Steel will be studying Communications and says he’s trying to get Steel back on the Leykis show to lend a progress report on where she’s at.
