Put it this way. You can only pimp out a Russian virgin once.
NY- Manhattan’s self-proclaimed “friendliest” madam was sent to the big house for up to five years yesterday after admitting she ran a house of ill repute for a decade.
Julie Moya, 48, accepted a plea deal rather than risk going to trial, where a conviction could have gotten her 15 years in prison.
But Moya, who could be freed in a little over two years, didn’t go off to the hoosegow as a happy hooker honcho. She bitterly claimed much of the prosecution’s case against her was bogus, including charges she pimped out virgins.
“There were never any Russian virgins,” Moya told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Ambrecht. “That is the most horrible crime I could imagine. That is something I would never do.”
She confessed a 15-year-old hooker once worked for her, but that she kicked the girl out after learning her age. “I’m a real person. I take care of animals. I take care of people. I’m not a bad person,” said the curly-haired Moya.
But prosecutors said the madam was well aware some of her prostitutes were underage, including a runaway who told detectives Moya gave her a fake ID and ordered her to “be a thoroughbred” in bed.
Moya, who has a prior drug conviction, pleaded guilty to one count of promoting prostitution in the third degree. Prosecutors agreed to drop the other 55 charges she was indicted on.
In addition to prison time, she was ordered to forfeit her Freeport, L.I., home, two cars, a boat and all the money in her bank account, which attorneys say is down to $3,500.
Prosecutors claim Moya ran a $3 million-a-year prostitution ring out of five midtown Manhattan apartments and her Long Island home.
When she was busted in January, Moya boasted to the Daily News that she ran “the friendliest, the nicest” brothels in New York.
