SARASOTA COUNTY — A jilted boyfriend demanded that his ex-girlfriend reimburse him for the cost of all their dates, and when she refused to pay up, he and a friend distributed copies of explicit videos of her, sheriff’s reports say.
Sheriff’s detectives arrested Phillip A. Solorzano, 21, on Thursday and accused him of handing out the CDs with the woman’s name, address and workplace printed on them.
The woman’s ex-boyfriend, Benjamin Bachand, 25, was arrested Aug. 29 and charged with extortion.
The woman said it started when she broke up with Bachand. The two had been dating for about a month and made the videos together, the sheriff’s report said.
Last month, she rushed to the Siesta Key nightclub Blu 1266 Lounge after she heard that Bachand and Solorzano were there, handing out the CDs with a label that said to contact her for sex, the sheriff’s report says.
The two men gave the CDs to several bar patrons, including the bar’s owner and an off-duty sheriff’s deputy, the report says.
The deputy told detectives he saw Solorzano with a large stack of CDs, and that he was handing them out.
That night, the deputy helped the woman collect about 14 CDs circulated around the nightclub. Solorzano was charged with misdemeanor distribution of obscene and lewd material. He was released from the Sarasota County jail Thursday morning, and will be arraigned Sept. 20.
