Bob from Dane writes: Gene, I came in Saturday morning to pull my e-mail, and as I do daily, read your column. As you know, a few weeks ago, I tried to put something together to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. As I stated in a previous e-mail to you, since I had gone through a situation with the Northridge earthquake, and people came to my children’s and my aid, I wanted to do the same

Knowing what it means after a personal disaster to have help, especially from people I had never met.

I do not think it would have made any difference if they knew what I did for a living. These were just kind people willing to lend a hand, as we are all doing now. I was one of the people who tried to do the event at SHENANIGANS, I was to bring some talent to stand outside and take pictures and give away some dvds, all monies to go charity. I did not intend to enter the club, only to make sure my people had access to the club to use the restrooms, and get a coke, not to perform in the bikini brawl. By the time I arrived at the club, I was informed by Raven that it was called off, and the talent had left.

I am not aware of the real reason this happened, whether there was jealousy involved on the part of the regulars who work the club,

Or perhaps the agreement was altered at the last minute, I just do not know, and I really don’t give a shit.

I only know an opportunity to do some good was lost. I asked for 2 hours time to raise some money, but it was not to be.

I invited 3 companies that DANE distributes for to help me and they all came ready to do whatever I needed to make this event successful. They were FRIDAY PRODUCTIONS, THE NAZTY BOYZ, AND RICK SANTINI. I have been trying for the past week to put this together, even by myself, but I seem to be bumping into a stone wall. I appealed to the adult industry to please give me a hand, not under the DANE banner, but any company who has enough clout to put this together for us.

I probably bit off more than I can chew. I only want to supply some talent, and give away some videos, that is all.

The amazing thing to me is that I have not received any responses from anyone. I am in need of a venue, preferably in the valley, where we can do this and raise some money. I really need help now because of the way the event fell through last week.

If a club is not willing to help, maybe there is someone who will donate a studio lot, or anyplace. A club would be the best as we could get exposure.

I know Katie is upset, and she has every right to be. I was livid myself because I did not want to lose sight of what we were there for. I am sure that the girls in the club upon seeing beautiful ladies like Katie and Annie Cruz were intimidated, and I have no doubt this had a lot to do with the cancellation. If that is the case, jealousy overshadowed death, distruction, and families torn apart. How terribly tragic to put stupidity in place of human need and suffering. I am still hopeful that we as a group can put something together to benefit these folks. I await some response from anyone willing to help me. I want no credit at all. I just want to help..I hope I can get someone, somewhere to show compassion and help. I know you are out there, please call me.
