Conversations with Anna Mills- 9/8/2005

Porn Valley- The last episode of Debriefed, a soap opera which Mark Kismet is directing for Hustler turned about to be a Who Shot Evan Stone drama perfect for weekend Internet reading.

Stone wasn’t shot, of course. His character was, but a lot of people thought Stone had actually taken a bullet on the set. And what a field day Kismet had with that. Not.

This time Anna Mills is on the set. And the question is more like who clipped her at a Ken Marcus party a couple of years ago at The Key Club. Mills was jumped by seven people, hit her head on the floor and wound up in physical therapy for three months.

A lot of people closed ranks on that one, and Mills says she would have spent more on a lawsuit than she did for physical therapy. So she dropped the idea of suing and went back to Texas where she worked as a cocktail waitress in a gentlemen’s club. But once the cobwebs cleared and Mills regained some perspective, she realized she missed the adult business. She came back out to California and spent a year working in the fetish end of the industry. Only recently has she returned doing hardcore.

On the set Mills was decked out in a pink dress with black polka dots and strap heels. Very Monroe-ish. Mills right away remembers that I called her after the Key Club incident but that she didn’t get back to me. “Well, I did get hit in the head,” she laughs. I asked her now about the incident and Mills tells me she was knocked unconscious.

“I was at a party at The Key Club,” she relates. “The party was hosted by Ken Marcus. We were there for about an hour and a half. I only had one drink at that point- a friend of mine had gone to the boy to get us a drink. Before he got back with it, I was taking some promotional pictures. Some people came to the party- they were knocking my nipples and hitting the hat off my head. Basically, they didn’t seem to like that I was taking pictures in the space they were sitting behind. It was a fetish party- a lot of time you get people that aren’t in the lifestyle that think it’s okay to hit anybody that they think is submissive. I just looked over and told them they didn’t have permission to hit me because that’s usually how you handle that sort of thing. It turned out that they weren’t even part of the lifestyle. They were just there looking for a fight, I guess. They jumped me. At first I thought it was five people.”

Mills says she later talked to Ken Marcus and other people who helped her.

“From the count it was seven people- three girls and four guys,” says Mills. “I got hit over the head with beer bottles. They knocked a table over on me. My head hit the concrete. This was in the VIP section so they had to go past two security checkpoints. They obviously knew the bouncers. I thought I was safe.”

Mills says it’s taken her awhile to even get up the nerve to go to another industry party.

“At this point I’m good,” she says. Mills was in physical therapy for three months. “It cost me a lot in medical bills and I ended up taking care of those myself. Basically I went out of the business because I wasn’t able to do anything. I had a lot of associations from that party. But once I went home I missed performing and came back.”

Mills then went back to Texas and worked as a cocktail waitress in a men’s club under a different name.

“They had no idea that I had been in the industry,” she says. “So here I am in Dallas. They’re like why don’t you dance. I’m, like, I have family. Meanwhile they think I’m a girl who hasn’t stripped and was working my way through college. But it was good money and as close to what you can get without dancing. We were paid to have people come in, sit and have dinner with us and buy wine. I could sit with somebody all night. It was great. I liked it.”

Mills also went back to her ex at the time.

“I needed something familiar and he was helpful to me,” she explains. “I didn’t know which way was up. He’s a really great guy but it was two different people. Sometimes somebody’s a good person and you can be a good person but you don’t necessarily work together because you’re fundamentally different. It’s hard to be in this lifestyle and this industry and actually have a relationship that works.”

Because Mills had struck up some great previous relationships in the industry, she had people to contact and began her gradual ascent. “I started out with fetish- I’ve been in over a year on the fetish style. They don’t forget you. But porn people forget you. The fetish fans I had were e-mailing me all the time begging me to come back. I was also offered to do customs. I could be 50 years old and they’ll still like me. I first came back into bondage because that’s what I missed the most. That was easy but fetish doesn’t pay as much. But I was so excited because it was fun and I couldn’t believe I was getting paid.”

Mills then got back into hardcore a couple of months ago by doing a blowjob scene. Mills wasn’t hesitant about doing hardcore as much as having a partner off screen that didn’t support what she was doing.

“Then I tried having the porn star boyfriend which was fun,” she adds. “But there were other issues with that. I was single for awhile and I had to think about what I wanted to do for myself. And once I decided I wanted to do what makes me happy, I started meeting guys and told them right out of the gate this is what I do; this is who I am. If you can handle it, great. If you can’t we should probably not go out. Not it’s different. I’ve got somebody who knows everything I do and he’s supportive of it. Before I didn’t want to lie to somebody. That was the problem. I didn’t want to lie.”

Mills is not repped by an agency. “I do everything on my own,” she says. “I like to be able to pick which jobs I’m taking. I know you can’t do that with an agency. There’s a lot of strong arming going on and I like to be able to say, I like this company. For some people I’ll do this and for others I won’t do that because it’s not so much about the money as what the product is at the end. I’m doing this more for the long term.”

Growing up in Texas, Mills says there was a fire and brimstone religious doctrine in her household. She went to church Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evenings.

“But my dad didn’t go to church until I was 11 or 12,” she says. “I was always praying at the altar. I’d have garage sales and bake sales to donate money to the missions.

“I’d work to get blankets to the missionaries and tape cassettes and recorders for the kids to listen to bible stories. I was overly good.” But in her sexual life, Mills was adventurous as it gets.

“Unfortunately I grew up with bad experiences with people that shouldn’t have done things to me,” Mills states. “It wasn’t my parents just so you know. They did nothing wrong other than just not having time to be home much. But a lot of things happened where I was awakened early in that area. At the same time it’s made me who I am and I don’t know if I’d take those experiences back to be a different person. I’m very open-minded about sexual things. Because I had done so many things, in high school I wasn’t curious. I abstained through most of high school. I guess I was trying to take some control at that point. Then when I was 19 I was at the point where I reverted to my compulsions. It’s like being on the wagon, falling off and going back to the point that you would have been at if you hadn’t been on the wagon.”

Mills mentions that she and her current boyfriend swing a lot.

“Just last Labor Day weekend we spent it with another couple,” says Mills. “She’s really hot. I’m not going to say their names.” Which, of course, means they’re in the porn industry. Mills laughs.

“Whoaaaaa. We went to hang out with them. I’ve known them for four years but haven’t played with them. It was always because I had a boyfriend who didn’t want to swing. I tried to respect that even though I wanted to play with her more so than him because it’s more about the girl. But I wanted a partner to where at least it was fair. I didn’t want to be the third person.”

Mills came in the industry about 2001 and was repped at one time by Roy Garcia.

“That was my last agent,” she says. “They definitely provide a service that’s needed because most girls need that because they don’t really know where they want to go.” I also ask Mills if she indulges in herbal stimulation. She doesn’t.

“I’m about the only person I know that doesn’t smoke weed,” she says. “Not because of any judgment on the thing. I would probably smoke it if it didn’t give me anxiety. I’m probably the most sober person in the business. This is my addiction. My addiction is sex. I masturbate to the point of hurting myself some times. I don’t need anything else. If I feel down, the first thing I do to fix that is get in front of my computer, find a story and get my magic wand out, or go see somebody I play with. I like to be dominant a lot in their bedroom. I do a lot of submissive stuff, too. But for the most part I like to be able to do BD/SM types of things. That’s a lot of fun to me.”

On camera, Mills takes into consideration her current relationship.

“You have to hold something back so I just agreed with my current boyfriend that I would give the anal thing to him where he has that for awhile. It’s not like something that I’m not going to do. It’s just, let’s keep it for ourselves for awhile. We do anal a lot. It’s always more complicated because you have to do this preparation and I’ve trained people to do anal stuff.”

Because of her experience in the club, it took Mills a long time to get back into rough sex.

“I was not into sex for a couple of months,” she notes. “I was really depressed. But now everything’s gone full circle. I hope I don’t actually go to the complete full circle. I’ve found something else that I’m good at. I don’t do it every time. But I found Nina Hartley’s Guide to Squirting- that was a lot of fun. And then I read this book on how to do it.”
