COLUMBUS, Ohio — After 12 years of trying, Columbus police got the goods on a madam who pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and 142 counts of promoting prostitution.
Tamera Sue Flory admitted to running a brothel behind the facade of a tanning supply company.
She could get more than 200 years in prison, but her lawyers are asking for no jail time when she’s sentenced in November.
They point out Flory has no felony record, didn’t allow drug use or beatings at the brothel, and spent the money on family, not to promote other crime.
Prosecutors say 57 prostitutes took turns working in the brothel. Lexuses, BMWs and other luxury cars dotted the lot. Cameras placed at the locked entrance allowed the women inside to buzz in only those they recognized.
Flory kept an $80 door fee and let the prostitutes keep whatever the customers paid them.
