REHOBOTH, Massachusetts – A 34-year-old man who police said raided his neighbor’s house for women’s underwear while on crack was arraigned yesterday on a charge of lewd conduct.
Douglas Viall, of Rehoboth, was caught by his neighbor while hiding in the man’s baby’s room Wednesday afternoon, according to a police report.
When found, Viall had the neighbor’s wife’s bras and panties stuffed down his pants, the neighbor told police.
“I have a panty fetish,” police said Viall told them when they arrived. Viall, who said he had gone to his neighbors to find a tire jack, also had a crack pipe on him, according to the report.
Viall told police that he had gone next door for the tool and noticed the garage and laundry room were open. He took the underwear off a drying rack there, he told police, before heading upstairs and raiding a bedroom dresser for more.
Hearing a sound downstairs, Viall hid in another bedroom, according to the report. The neighbor, who had returned home, smelled stale cigarettes in the room and found Viall hiding, he told police.
Also down Viall’s pants was a stuffed cat toy that had been lying around the house, the neighbor told police.
The perplexed homeowner said his wife’s underwear had been disappearing since March. One piece showed up mysteriously in the family’s shed.
Viall was also charged with breaking and entering to commit a felony, possession of crack cocaine and larceny from a building. He was released without bail and is due back Nov. 25 in Taunton District court.
