MIAMI — Police said they have made arrests in a sex slavery ring in Miami that involved teenage girls.
Leo Guevara, 29, [pictured] is accused of being the leader of the business, called Top Notch Escorts. The ring even had a business card that boasted “barely legal girls.”
Police said many of the girls were not legal at all.
Police said they were tipped off to the ring when a 16-year-old Hialeah runaway returned home after three days to tell her parents that she was forced into prostitution. She told them she was forced to have sex with several men in Miami to “try out for the job.”
“Five guys on one day, and five guys on a separate day, actually took turns having sex with her as an audition for the business, basically to see if she was worthy of ‘joining the family,’ as they called it. That family was basically a business that was run by a guy named Leo. Also, there was an enforcer whose job was to be violent and basically make the girls enforce the rules,” said Delrish Moss, of the Miami police.
Police said the enforcer, Harold Danny Banos, 21, beat the girls. Naivis Muelener, 23, is accused of being the madam of the ring.
Police conducted an undercover sting operation and arrested Banos, Muelener and Guevara.
A 16-year-old girl who police said was found in possession of cocaine was also arrested. There is no proof that she was a prostitute, police said.
Police continue to investigate to find out how many girls were involved in the ring. They said they are confident they have arrested the organizers.
