I meet Crissy Cums, www.luridreams.com on the set of Torrid’s House of Anal, the movie Cindy Crawford is directing for Defiance/Torrid. Cums is talking about how her name gets fractured in the spelling and how it messes her up trying to hunt down some of her movie titles.
“It’s a pain in the ass tracking boxcovers down so you can start feature dancing,” she explains. Cums has been in the business about a year and had always given thought to being in the adult industry going back to when she was 13.
“I thought it would be hot but never went looking for it,” she says. “but when they approached me I figured I’d try anything once. I ended up loving it. I can’t complain. It’s a job I do. It’s my hobby and I get paid for it. It’s not a bad deal.Cums is from Portland, Oregon and flies to L.A. two weeks a month to film for others as well as her own company. Cums has been an exotic dancer and before that worked for “dreaded corporate America”.
“The 8-5 office job sucked,” she said. “I didn’t like it. I was an administrative assistant for a construction organization. It was the same old complaints, bullshit and paperwork day in and day out. It was kind of drag. I had to keep my clothes on for the job. It wasn’t any fun.”
I point out to Cums, regardless, she’s still working around wood. Considering some of the scenes she’s been in, Cums thinks this is very funny.
Cums grew up in Ontario, California, in the Inland Empire. “The million dollar tract homes were definitely a deterrent,” she says. “The green lush outdoors of Oregon drove me to it.” Cums moved there two years ago. As a kid she was a very conservative Christian, quiet, shy individual. “I was very repressed.”
She was 17 1/2 when she first had sex.
“I think I corrupted him because he was one of those guys who wanted to wait till marriage,” says Cums. “It was two repressed individuals and we both drew out each other’s wild sides. There are still guys like that who think that waiting till marriage is the best time to lose their virginity. I don’t know. If you can’t match sexually with the person that you’re marrying, you shouldn’t be getting married. Let’s just say my parents invited him to go on a cross country trip with us to Florida. It was the night before we were leaving. I was in my bedroom and he snuck in while they were asleep. We woke up early so we could get an early start. We kind of did it then but we didn’t know what the fuck we were doing. But it kind of worked.”
While Cums was being stifled by corporate America and working for Mary Kay on the side, a friend of hers, who was a dancer, kept telling her about the money she was making being a dancer.
“I didn’t think I could do that,” Cums observes. “I had never been in a strip club so I had no judgments against her. I thought was cool that she could do that and be open about it. It just got to the point that I was sick of my job and hating the office politics from the other women. She said why don’t you come in with me on a Sunday night. Have drinks, see what I do. Everybody was so open and accepted me and they invited me back for amateur night the next night. They got me completely drunk. I don’t even remember it. But after I did my trial stage set, they offered me a job to work there. I quit my other job and got into that.”
Once Cums moved to Oregon she worked for Stars Cabaret in Beaverton. “There was a photographer in there- Garret Smith- and his friends made him go there for his birthday. He approached me to do some artistic, erotic nudes. I’m, like, okay. I sat on his card for six months. I didn’t think he was legitimate. I finally found him again, researched him and felt bad that I didn’t call him because he was. I called him back and we arranged a solo photo shoot, then a g/g photo shoot with Mandy Miller, I believe. It just went from there and he gave me connections. And one of my other friends gave me connections to Derek at L.A. Direct. I sat on that for another six months because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get into porn. I wanted to make sure it was something I wanted to do. I came down here and tested it out. I loved it and have been doing it ever since.”
The first time Cums discovered her untapped rectal capacity was on camera. “I wanted someone who was a professional to do it first so I wouldn’t get hurt,” she laughs. “It wasn’t that I was scared, I just hadn’t done it. The first anal was for Anarchy- Streetwalkers 2. It went good. It was with Johnny Thrust. It was a POV. “I know they’re eventually going to find out,” she says. “This isn’t something I’m ashamed about. I just don’t want to ruin their life and how they’re living right now. When the time comes when I have to tell them, I will. But they’re happy the way they are. They know that I model, and I do some artistic modeling. I do some regular modeling, I’m a mainstream model as well. They know I do artistic nudes. My parents live in California so they’re not up there [in Oregon] anyways. I do tell them I fly back and forth to do regular modeling. But for the most part I tell them I work in a niteclub as a cocktail server.”
Asked if she would ever consider non-artistic nudes, Cums said that it would be wrong. “Never!” she laughs. “That’s very wrong.” Cums also explains that her website URL is also her production company name. “I really never wanted it to be just my name. Eventually I’m going to recruit other girls and I’m in the process of doing that right now. I’ve already started filming my own stuff. it’s also a political site about the anti-war, porn thing going on in Congress. There’s a lot of articles and information for people to read because a lot of outsiders don’t realize how hard they’re cracking down on us in the industry right now.
Cums advises women coming into the industry that they better be damn sure they want to do porn and not be desperate for the money.
If you’re desperate for the money you feel bad about yourself,” she says. “You get into a lot of other drugs to cope with what you’re doing because you’re not happy. Make sure it’s something you really want to do. Set your boundaries and let people know what you’re willing to do and what you’re not. Stick by it and have fun. It’s a fun job.
Asked if she was seeing someone, Cums mentions that she’s married. “He’s the one that corrupted me,” she laughs. “He would have been the one I lost my virginity to. And I’m known to corrupt my fans. I’m doing a series called Crissy’s Boot Camp. I’m recruiting guys about 18 to 28 to see who can be the next porn star. Basically, they start off doing a blowjob and if they can do a blowjob, then they might get to fuck me. I basically at the beginning show them how to open up and teach them a little bit about porn, that it’s not just sex on camera. If they can do it I start referring them to other people. And then I might just contract them eventually if they’re good performers.”
Cums says a lot of guys approach her about getting into the porn industry.
“In all honesty I can’t refer them to anyone ujntil I know they can. And most guys, when they’re given the chance, actually ever do it and take me up on it. It’s a job everybody thinks they want but won’t actually take.”
Cums will begin featuring dancing October 29 in Salem, Oregon. “It’s for Four Stars Cabaret and their VIP Halloween party,” she says. “They’re taking care of me. I’ve been one of their girls and now that I have boxcovers, I’m starting to feature.”
