Denver- Denver Nuggets rookie guard Julius Hodge is under investigation for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 37-year-old woman in his Denver high-rise last week, police confirmed.
Hodge, the Nuggets’ first-round draft pick this year, has not been charged with any crime, and his attorney calls the allegations false and “financially motivated.”
The woman said that Hodge invited her on a date Wednesday night and then drove her to his condo, in the 300 block of West 11th Avenue, where he tried to rape her.
She said that once inside the condo he took off his clothes and demanded sex, and when she refused, he forced her onto the bed.
Police spokesman John White said the alleged incident occurred between 11 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Wednesday night and was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday. He said Hodge has been cooperating with the investigation.
Dan Recht, Hodge’s attorney, said the allegations are “completely false and appears to be financially motivated.” He confirmed that Hodge knew the woman.
Kiki Vandeweghe, Nuggets general manager, also went to Hodge’s defense Monday night. “Julius categorically denies this allegation,” he wrote in a statement. “We’re confident he will be vindicated by the facts.”
