Porn Valley- Mantra Films, which paid $541,235 in 2003 to settle a federal complaint of billing people without their consent for monthly installments of its “Girls Gone Wild” porn video series, is doing it again, according to a class-action complaint in Federal Court. (Pornography is believed to be the top income producer for the Internet, with annual revenue estimated at amounts varying from $2 billion to $900 billion.) Mantra “compiles raw footage of young women exposing themselves and performing sexual acts,” the complaint states. Customers who order videos – advertised on the Internet and through direct marketing – are sent additional monthly installments, and their credit cards are billed for them, without authorization, without being given a deadline by which to cancel the unordered films, without explanation of shipping and handling charges, and if they do call to cancel, the calls frequently meet no response, the complaint states. Also sued is Joseph R. Francis, founder, CEO and sole owner of Mantra. Plaintiffs, represented by Keller, Fishback of Agoura Hills, seek an injunction and punitive damages.
