Atlanta- Acting on a tip, authorities moved Monday to shut down a haunted house run by a registered sex offender.
Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Stacey Kelley said that Norman Eugene Little, 41, was running a haunted house at his residence at 3143 Skyland Drive in Snellville. Little was convicted in 1997 in Rockdale County of enticing a child for indecent purposes, records show. Sentenced to 15 months in prison, he was released from state custody in July 1999.
“We were concerned about any contact he might have with children,” Kelley said.
Kelley said Little balked at closing the house, so deputies got in touch with Snellville authorities.
Snellville police went to the house and shut down the attraction for not having a permit.
“We’ll post a deputy out there for the remainder” of Halloween night trick-or-treating to monitor the situation, Kelley said.
Little, reached at his home Monday evening, declined to comment.
Kelley said the Sheriff’s Department tries to keep a close eye on the county’s registered sex offenders.
“We check them regularly to make sure they’re living where they say they are,” she said.
