NY- They seemed like a match made in heaven.

She was a dark-haired beauty from Yonkers, a vivacious woman who embraced life.

He had movie-star good looks, with a swarthy sensuality and a swagger that came with his Hollywood resume.

The pictures of Lillo Brancato and Stefanie Armento tell a story of a young romance, with little hint of the torment in their future.

They met in the summer of 2003, when Armento was only 18, working at a local gym.

Brancato would brag about his film roles. “I was in ‘A Bronx Tale,'” he would tell her, and he could show her “what life is like.”

For the next several months, Brancato did just that – squiring her around some of the country’s hottest spots, living the life of celebrity.

Armento posted numerous shots of her bad-news boyfriend on a photo-sharing Web site, offering a public scrapbook of their relationship.

On New Year’s Eve in 2003, they celebrated at Sessa, a trendy nightspot in Chelsea.

In a picture taken at Sessa, a smiling Armento has her arm around Brancato, who’s expressionless with a cigarette dangling between his fingers.

Other shots were taken around New York at social get-togethers or at outdoor cafes where the lovers stopped for a bite.

One picture was of the wiry Brancato showing off boxer Arturo Gatti’s WBC junior welterweight championship belt.

The actor met Gatti after the genuine tough guy knocked out Leonard Dorin in Atlantic City in July 2004 to retain his title.

Around that time, Armento was putting together a fan club Web site for Brancato, culling together a filmography, a bio and some pictures of the star.

She assured Brancato’s fans there would be “some hott [sic] pictures!!” and dedicated the site to “those fans out there that want to tell Lillo how much they love him.”

By the end of 2004, Brancato had trimmed his soul patch from his lower lip.

They traveled to California, hobnobbing in places like the Spider Club in Hollywood.

By then, Armento was growing weary of Brancato’s drug use. He would be arrested four times in 2005, twice on drug charges.

She told him to take a hike – but her family said the actor-thug wouldn’t take no for an answer and kept coming around.

His final visit was last week, when he committed a true punk act, throwing a lit cigarette in Armento’s face.

Three days later, Brancato and Armento’s father were shot as they allegedly tried to break into a Bronx apartment to find drugs. They both stand charged with killing off-duty cop Daniel Enchautegui.
