LOS ANGELES – Amy Lee, lead singer for the rock group Evanescence, has sued her former personal manager, Dennis Rider and Rider Management, claiming, among other things, that Rider sexually harassed and assaulted her and spent $18,000 of her money to buy his mistress a car.
Lee claims in Superior Court that Rider harassed and assaulted her while drunk; spent $2,500 of her money keeping his mistress at a Florida hotel; engaged in conflicts of interest by representing other band members; showed up late and drunk to business meetings; asked if he could give her a gynecological exam, and so on. She says when she gave him his termination letter, Rider, who is an attorney, had another attorney contact her, purportedly to discuss a resolution, but actually to “gain a procedural advantage of being a plaintiff by beating Lee to the courthouse steps.” Represented by Lavely & Singer, she seeks punitive damages.
