Studio City, CA- What rocks harder than a week-old matzah ball bounced off a cold driveway? A bunch of heavy metal musicians sitting around the Seder table discussing the Jewish experience of course.
“Matzo And Metal II: Back to the Desert” is the VH1 music network’s second annual Las Vegas-style Seder, bringing together Jewish musicians to show the role music and storytelling play in the Passover Seder.
Featuring Scott Ian of Anthrax (the fathers of thrash metal), Evan Seinfeld [pictured] of Biohazard (known for riding the sharp edge between hip-hop and heavy metal), Josh Silver of Type O Negative (famous for their brand of self-deprecating gothic metal) and moderated by VH1 Classic host Lynn Hoffman, this Seder will have everything from music to matzah balls on the table for discussion – and consumption – as the musicians gather for kosher food at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Vegas.
Ian is the only returning guest from last year’s heavy metal Seder, which featured Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and aired on the second night of Passover. This year’s program will premiere at 7pm Thursday April 13th on VH1 Classic. It will replay various times through Sunday, April 16th.
