WWW- One of the behind the scenes featurettes in the Inside Deep Throat documentary presents a puzzling enigma wrapped within a condom.
A friend of the late Linda Lovelace who starred in Deep Throat, www.arrowfreedom.com is interviewed. Her name’s Ruth Nash and Nash talks about being Lovelace’s closest friend and the fact that they would talk four or five times a day to her. According to Nash, she and Lovelace both worked as temps at Merrill Lynch and Lovelace was in customer service. Apparently Lovelace did so well, that she was offered a permanent position there. But Nash claims that Lovelace’s daughter Lindsay apparently let the cat out of the bag about her mother’s past and Lovelace was consequently fired.
“If I hadn’t seen it for myself I wouldn’t have believed it,” says Nash. “That movie haunted her. She got it all the time.” Nash in a conversation with Lovelace about the incident couldn’t believe that something that happened 25 years earlier would be dogging Lovelace to that day. Except here’s the part that’s puzzling- Nash claims that Lovelace saw the movie for the first time three weeks before she died and spun a copy for Nash to watch. After watching the movie, Lovelace reportedly told Nash she didn’t know what the big deal was. However it was Lovelace who wrote a book called Ordeal detailing her misery in the aftermath of Deep Throat and made a career of being a martyr to that film.
“We’re talking 25 years ago and it was a big deal back then,” says Nash.
Lovelace’s daughter Lindsay Marchiano backs it up by saying Lovelace couldn’t understand why the big deal, that she was only in an hour’s film. Marchiano also quotes Lovelace as saying:
“I didn’t do that much- I don’t understand- I don’t want this to affect you [Marchiano] in your life anyway.”
