from sploid.com: Attorney General Alberto Gonzales shocked the nation Tuesday when he told CNN there’s no proof his family immigrated legally to the United States.
Most Americans are suddenly outraged over the presence of some 12 million illegal workers, many from Mexico, in this country right now.
Conservatives are especially furious that the Bush Administration has done nothing to stop the “invading hordes” from south of the border. Until yesterday, cynics wrote off Bush’s do-nothing policy as obedience to his international corporate masters — factories and farms in the United States depend on cheap Latino labor in order to maintain high profits.
But a more sinister story emerged with Gonzales’ startling revelation: The country’s top law-enforcement official is himself the spawn of illegal aliens.
And his loyalty is to illegal aliens, not Americans.
Here is the transcript of Gonzales’ outrageous interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer:
BLITZER: Give us your … tell our viewers who aren’t familiar your personal story, how you got to where you are, your grandparents, your parents. They struggled, they came here. I don’t know if they came here legally or illegally. But give us the story.
GONZALES: Well, three of my grandparents were born in Mexico. They came to Texas. My parents — both my parents were born in Texas extremely poor. My mother…
BLITZER: When they came to Texas, were they legally documented, were they un-legally documented?
GONZALES: You know what? It’s unclear. It’s unclear. And I’ve looked at this issue, I’ve talked to my parents about it and it’s just not clear.
Unclear. As the president’s attorney and now as Attorney General of the United States, Gonzales is never “unclear.”
Whether it’s torturing innocent Iraqi children at Abu Ghraib or dumping legal American citizens in military dungeons for years without trial, flying “enemy combatants” to secret torture bases in Eastern Europe or authorizing illegal wiretaps of American citizens, Alberto Gonzales has always been abundantly clear: Anything he authorizes is the Law, regardless of how many laws it breaks or how horribly Americans and innocent people in faraway nations must suffer.
While it sounds like little more than brain-dead racism, working class Republicans and their media proxies have said again and again that the American way of life is at risk because illegal aliens from Mexico don’t share our values — specifically because they don’t come from a Democratic tradition, and their very entry to this country was a criminal act. Some go as far as saying Mexicans have “faulty moral compasses.”
It looks like anti-illegal-immigration forces now have the personification of their argument in the loathsome person of Alberto Gonzales: a bloodthirsty, anti-American war criminal who spits on the U.S. Constitution.
