Los Angeles, CA – Vince Neil, lead singer of the legendary rock group Motley Crue, handed over a check for $1,000,000 to the T.J. Martell Foundation, representing what his Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournament has raised for the charity in it’s ten year history. This year’s 10th Anniversary event was held on May 5th at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley, California, and was the most successful to date, raising over $175,000 to help fund research for cancer, leukemia, and AIDS. The tournament was created in memory of Vince’s late daughter, Skylar, who passed away at the age of six from cancer.

Columbia/Sony music industry executive Tony Martell, who was instrumental in the signing of Ozzy Osbourne and Stevie Ray Vaughn, among others, founded The T. J. Martell foundation in 1975, in memory of his son, T.J., a victim of leukemia. The T. J Martell Foundation has since raised more than $200 million over 30-years to combat the world’s three most deadliest diseases. The T.J. Martell Foundation remains dedicated to raising funds for the innovative initial and ongoing research into the treatments and cures of leukemia, cancer, and AIDS at the leading eight research facilities throughout the United States.

In November of 2005, Vince Neil and The T.J. Martell Foundation launched a new annual fundraiser, Vince Neil’s Off The Strip Poker Tournament, which raised nearly $150,000 in its first year. Plans for the second annual Off The Strip tournament in November of 2006 are underway and details will be announced soon.
