WWW- Playboy is hoping to cash in on the male vices of soft porn and gambling with its new production Playboy’s Women of Poker.
Producer Alta Loma Entertainment, owned by Playboy Enterprises, has commissioned Players Network to produce a multi-part television series that pits beautiful women against one another for a chance to bare-all in the men’s magazine.
The new venture is intended to repeat the success of E! Entertainment’s The Girls Next Door, which looked at the extraordinary lives of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends behind the doors of the infamous Playboy Mansion.
Contestants will take part in a series of five regional qualifying rounds held throughout the US, during which the girls will be given a chance to show more than their hand in test shoots for Playboy.
The 30 women who have what it takes to model for Playboy will win a trip to Las Vegas to compete in the televised finals, where the six contestants who win the most points from both their card-playing and modelling skills will become fully fledged members of Playboy’s party-going poker team.
Series creator Michael Berk, president of production at Players Network, said: “The Playboy brand is hotter than ever. E! Entertainment’s The Girls Next Door is one of the hottest TV shows on air. And poker has never been hotter. The opportunity to combine Playboy and poker is a win/win situation for both companies.”
