Ric Williams: I think that I have made my point in regards to Harry [Weiss], but will offer these final comments [in caps] on his points.
Harry Weiss posts: Once again, Ric Williams can’t get his facts straight. “THE LAST TIME HARRY ATTACKED ME PERSONALLY MY LAWYER WAS GOING TO SUE HIM” I never personally attacked him. I was hired by now former clients of his, to put out a press release officially canceling their contracts. Ric and his lawyer made threats against me but had no legal basis to sue me.
HARRY DID PERSONALLY ATTACK ME IN THE PRESS RELEASE, THEY ARE NOT FORMER CLIENTS BUT CURRENT CLIENTS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT CANCEL A LEGALLY ENFORCEABLE CONTRACT. DID YOU WONDER WHY AVN AND XBIZ DID NOT POST YOUR RELEASE HARRY? BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT WAS LIBELOUS ON ITS FACE.
Ric is the one making this personal.
THIS STARTED WITH MY POST ON PORN STAR PERFORMANCE WHERE I DID NOT CALL ANYONE OUT PERSONALLY, HARRY DID CALL ME OUT ON HIS KSEX SHOW SO I RESPONDED.
“WOULD HARRY LIKE TO SHARE HIS CREDENTIALS?”
I don’t feel it necessary to share my credentials with you, nor do I feel it necessary to brag about my IQ or college degree.
ENOUGH SAID HERE
“THEN WHY ARE YOU BOOKING TALENT IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW?” I have always stated that I am not a talent agent. I am a manager. It is perfectly legal for me to advise my clients on their careers, what jobs to take, and making sure they have all information necessary to perform said job. The Talent managers Association defines the job as; “A Talent Manager is a professional engaged in advising and counseling talent and personalities in every aspect of the entertainment industry. As an important member of the team, the talent manager functions as facilitator and coordinator of the efforts and activities of the talent’s entire team.”
HARRY, IF YOU WERE TO LOOK AT THE LIST OF MEMBERS OF THE TALENT MANAGERS ASSOCIATION YOU WOULD SEE MY NAME LISTED AS A PAST BOARD MEMBER OF THIS ASSOCIATION…I THINK I KNOW WHAT A TALENT MANAGERS JOB IS.
Mr. Williams does not understand my original statements that prompted his diatribe. I had argued that a person obtaining a talent agent license does not equate to that person’s ethics or their abilities as an agent to secure work.
I DI DNOT GET THIS OUT OF HARRY’S ORIGINAL STATEMENTS, BUT I DO AGREE 100% WITH THIS STATEMENT.
I do not feel like wasting any additional time on this. Harry Weiss
I ALSO AGREE WITH THIS!
Gene, thanks for allowing this debate to continue on your site. My main goal is to get the facts out there so that people can make an informed decision. Is it a little self serving…of course, I am a businessman and I run a for-profit company. But it does not alter the facts. I could have started up a talent management company but then legally I could not book talent. With only 3 licensed talent agents in the adult industry I felt that the time was right to start an agency and inform the industry of the legalities of talent booking. I respect Derek Hayes and Adam Glaser for the businesses they have built and do not think that unlicensed agents/managers are going to stop booking talent, but they need to understand that all it will take is one disgruntled client to turn them in to the Labor Commissioner and they will lose all commissions earned in the past 12 months. This industry is maturing and to stay on the right side of the law, all companies are going to have to change the way they do business and this is just one area that begs to conform to the law. Maybe we need to start up the AAG (Adult Actors Guild) and franchise agents through them!!
Thanks again,
Ric
