HOLLYWOOD, CA- According to a New York Post published story on their Page Six gossip column, American Idol’s reigning singing superstar Kelly Clarkson didn’t want to be confused with a porn star.

Apparently the pop music diva decided to no longer drive her magnificent custom made hot pink Mustang after she found out that a nearly identical vehicle being driven by porn starlet Alana Evans was loose on the streets of Los Angeles.

Evans, movie co-star of X-Play/Hustler Video’s Britney Rears 3 said she was surprised that the pop singer went to such extreme measures regarding something as trivial as an automobile. “I guess she didn’t want to be seen driving around town in the same car that a porn star was driving,” Alana joked when asked about the report.

The story broke yesterday on Page Six, the widely read New York Post gossip column that makes a living tackling celebrity related topics. Apparently porn colliding with mainstream entertainment is a white hot subject as evidenced by this story and Page Six’s SugarDVD-Tori Spelling article that broke a couple of weeks ago.

The New York Post story reported that ‘the cherub-cheeked “American Idol” pop star got rid of her $60,000 hot-pink Mustang convertible after she learned Evans had the same model, which, like Clarkson’s, was customized by Galpin Auto Sports in Van Nuys, Calif. “She was upset that I had the same car and threw a big fit,” says Evans, star of “Britney Rears 3” and host of “Private Calls” Playboy’s weekly radio show on Sirius. “It’s insulting because she doesn’t even know me. I thought, ‘What kind of American Idol is this?’ It’s funny because when Kelly had the car, some of my friends saw her and asked me, ‘Who was that fat brunette driving your car?’ ”

In addition to appearing in Britney Rears 3, Evans also a co-star in the upcoming Sex Z Pictures thriller Corruption, said that her husband, adult performer Chris Evans saw the Mustang at a gas station where Clarkson’s assistant was filling up. “He told me that Kelly didn’t want to drive the same car as a Playboy Playmate,” Evans said.

The Playboy reference comes from the fact that Alana Evans is also the co-host of the popular Playboy Radio Private Calls. No word on what American Idol’s Simon Cowell thinks of this hot rod controversy.

So for now, there is still one hot pink Mustang being driven by a porn star around town. In fact, this sexy muscle car and its super hot owner will be on display at the Peterson Automotive Museum during a Mustang convention on September 18th.
