Austin, Minnesota- A 75-year-old northern Iowa man reported two women at Austin’s Countryside Inn beat him up Wednesday night and took several hundred dollars from his wallet.
The man told police he was waiting to check in at the hotel lobby when a woman in front of him invited him to her room. He went with her and once they got to her room, she reportedly asked him for money. He refused, but she got angry so he gave her $100, according to a police report.
When he refused to give her more, she called two people who were waiting in a car in the parking lot, and a second woman came to the room shortly after. The man told police they pounded on his back and scratched his arms, and he gave them $100 more.
He said the women kept hitting him and then took $400 to $500 from his wallet, gave it back to him, and told him to leave. The man said he went to the lobby, and the watched the women leave the hotel and get in a car driven by a man.
He got in his vehicle and followed their dark green car as it went west on Interstate 90 to Albert Lea, and then turn north on Interstate 35. At that point, the man stopped following the car and called police at 7:15 p.m.
The man later called police again to say that one of the woman had called him three times before he saw her at the hotel, and gave police the phone number. He also told police he heard the women had come to Austin to dance but the business was closed.
