PADUCAH, Ky. — A former porn actress feels she still has something to teach kids.

Tericka Dye was fired by a western Kentucky school district after officials learned she used to perform in a series X-rated films a decade ago. Dye is reapplying for her job as a science teacher at Reidland High School.

She said she screwed up “royally” a decade ago, when she was stripping and starring in pornos. Dye said everybody deserves a second chance and she worked for hers.

District officials said Dye’s past as an X-rated actress could prove disruptive in the classroom. Dye is a mother of four now and said she needs the teaching job to support her kids.

She was suspended with pay after she admitted appearing in adult films. She said she was working as an exotic dancer at the time and desperately needed money.

The case drew national attention after Dye appeared on television with Dr. Phil McGraw.

The mother of four said she has not found work since leaving the school and has been living off child support payments.
