New York- As it stands Bob Guccione now has more liens than the Tower of Pisa. Unless ABC-TV foots the bill for an extreme makeover, Bob “The Gooch” Guccione ain’t buyin’ a break. According to the N.Y. Daily News, a federal judge has now slapped a lien on Guccione’s palatial country manor in upstate New York, adding to the porn king’s financial woes.
Manhattan Federal Court Judge Loretta Preska issued an order of attachment at the request of one of the Penthouse founder’s creditors, an Arizona mortgage company.
Guccione, 72, had been perilously close to being evicted from his East Side mansion. An eviction order took effect at 12:01 a.m. yesterday, but creditors gave him a week to come up with the $17 million he owes. To prop up his sinking empire, Guccione has had to sell most of his collection of Impressionist and modern paintings and drawings.
He borrowed $5.5 million from the Arizona company in 2002, only to default a year later. Penthouse filed for bankruptcy last year. To secure the loan, Guccione used the Staatsburg mansion he purchased in 1985 for $2.5 million. The property has been in foreclosure in Dutchess County Supreme Court since last year.
