Porn Valley- There’s two Roy Karch’s in the adult business. Last week at the kick off party for www.primetimeuncensored.com, I talked to Roy Karch. I asked what’s with that.
“You wanna know the story?” asks Karch who proceeds to tell a story from eight years earlier. “The story is one day I’m at home in Hollywood. The phone rings. The guy goes is this Roy Karch? I said, yeah, who’s speaking? He says this is Roy Karch. I thought it was my friend Mikey of twenty years playing a joke. He says, no, no, no. This is Roy Karch. I keep getting phone messages for you with what sounds like beautiful women. And I’m curious. I said who is this? I was really annoyed. He says my name’s Roy Karch. I shortened it. I’m from Long Island. I said I’m Roy Karch from the Bronx. He says I’m out here now and are you in the adult business?
“I said, look, I don’t know who I’m talking to. You’re starting to get me a little nuts. He goes I’m in the adult business. I opened up a distributorship. I say wait a minute. You’re Roy Karch from New York City who just opened up a distributorship. He said, yeah, Empire Distributors- it’s a family owned thing with my mother, with my father. I said where do you live. He goes, oh, I’m in Hollywood. Where in Hollywood, I ask. He goes El Cerito. I said I’m on El Cerito. So far I’m either ready to stroke out or run for the web base. We go outside the doors of our respective apartment buildings and meet on El Cerito. We hang up the phones and we’re out meeting each other. So he invites me out to his place. I should have thought to put a kabosh on this because this is my name. And the story only gets uglier from there. Ugly in the sense that when he owes people money they call me.”
The future of the Roy Karch I’m talking to is about branding his name in 2007.
“It’s about getting a presence on the web and the fact that Roy Karch Productions will become RKP XXX,” he says. “And I shoot for other companies as well. It’s going to be a busy year. I’m just learning about the Internet, how to work and how to move it.”
Karch said he might possibly have his own show on Prime Time Uncensored called The New Undergroung Tonight Show.
“That’s the show I did in New York in the Seventies,” he explains. “I’m investigating all avenues.”
