Hawthorne, California- Police in Hawthorne are seeking help in finding a missing 24-year-old woman who hasn’t been seen in two weeks.
Nicole Brooks, a Hawthorne resident who formerly worked as an exotic dancer at a downtown Los Angeles club, was last seen standing near Western Avenue and 108th Street in Los Angeles after visiting a cousin’s home Feb. 6, said her mother, Cynthia Porchia.
Brooks has not contacted any friends or relatives since then. She did not take her car, a brown Chevrolet Malibu.
“I’m pretty worried about her,” Porchia said. “I’m hoping that she will turn up soon somewhere.”
Hawthorne police Detective Chris Wiley said police have found no signs of foul play but cannot rule it out.
Brooks was a bikini dancer at the Alameda Strip in Los Angeles until a few weeks ago, a co-worker said.
Her mother said she was unemployed at the time she disappeared.
“She was trying to make it and pay her bills,” Porchia said. “I think that was her reason for dancing at the club.”
The mother and daughter last spoke the day before she vanished. Brooks expressed no hint of any problems during a conversation in which they laughed and talked.
“She was a very spiritual person,” Porchia said. “I feel like if she was going to disappear she would have told me.”
Brooks later spoke with other family members.
Brooks is described as black, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
