Porn Valley- Among other things, Sunny Lane came on the Adam Carolla Show Monday morning to plug her appearance at Adultcon this weekend.
“Ladies a lot of eligible bachelors,” Carolla pointed out for husband-hunting females. Otherwise, Lane was getting little respect for the fact that her parents are now involved with her career. That story had already been told last week on ABC’s Primetime and Jimmy Kimmel but it sounds like it’s going to be making more rounds this week.
“Shelby and Mike are the parents of Sunny Lane- been married for 29 years,” said Carolla.
“We’ve had some porn stars in here- pardon me- but I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole,” said Danny Bonaduce noting for the most part they’re “horrifying people.” Another exception, he said, was Tera Patrick who’s been on the show a number of occasions.
“You are just an adorable little girl,” Bonaduce told Lane. “It makes my little heart break that you’re so cute and can do anything with your life. What made you choose this?”
“As a young girl I was a professional ice skater,” Lane answered. “And I had foot surgery. That’s what changed my life. I’ve always been in the entertainment field. I wanted to do something that was fun and exciting.”
“I’ll take three guys at a time,” Bonaduce chimed in.
“I haven’t done that yet,” said Lane. Asked if she does the real hardcore stuff, Lane said she’s been taking it slow.
“I plan on pacing myself, less is more,” she continued. “I do mostly feature acting with dialogue and scripts and I get to shoot guns and blow people up!”
Bonaduce said that’s exactly the kind of porn he hates.
“No, no, no- it’s fun because it’s exciting, it’s action-packed,” continued Lane. “Then it gets hot and sexy and steamy and just blows your mind.”
“Get to the sex,” said Bonaduce. “I don’t care how adorable you are, get to the sex.”
Asked if she does anal scenes, Lane said she didn’t do that, either.
“I have a nice juicy white booty for a white girl,” she answered. “I must say it’s a skater’s booty.”
Lane’s father “Papa Mike” was then heard from.
“As Jimmy Kimmel would say, we are the whacked-out Lane game,” he drawled. “We’re here on behalf of Sunny Lane. We love her to death as parents. That means strictly love as…” He grasped for a word to complete his thought. Lane finished it.
“We have a very unique situation,” said Lane.
“Really?” said Carolla.
“It’s really cool because I’m open and honest with my family,” she continued. “I’m an adult and when I came to them and I said I’m going to be an exotic dancer after I have foot surgery- that’s really what changed my life and to getting into the adult business and seeing what it was all about- so when I came to them they didn’t exactly agree with what I was doing but they knew I was an adult.”
Bonaduce then addressed her father’s drawl.
“Daddy’s cadence of speaking is just a little creepy, or is that just me?” Bonaduce asked.
“No,” Carolla replied, adding that he was also interested in how all this began.
“Sunny, you twist an ankle- you were a skater- you get an injury. By the way, most people that suffer an injury don’t get into dancing.”
Lane said she started her rehab wearing bobby socks and tennis shoes. Bonaduce said when he lost his vocal chords and couldn’t speak he thought, logically, radio would be the perfect venue for him.
“Most people who suffer an ankle injury do not become dancers- that’s rather odd, don’t you think?”
“I look at it like this,” said Lane. “I’ve been an athlete- I’m a tough woman and nothing’s going to get me down. They told me I would never skate again. I got back out there and I skated again. Then the foot surgery-thing happened. I said okay I’m tough, again. I’m going to go, start dancing and be an exotic dancer.”
Lane went on to rehabilitate her foot.
“I also opened up my own business when I was 18, teaching yoga and pilates at the ice skating ring,” she added. “So I’ve always been athletic. I’ve always been taking care of my body. And I wanted to do something that was still entertainment that’s thrill-seeking. As a skater and taking that ice when I’m by myself you got to have strength, courage, confidence and endurance.”
“You don’t need the kind of courage or endurance working with Ron Jeremy,” Carolla pointed out. Lane said Jeremy was her best friend.
“He’s been a great mentor for me.”
Carolla asked Lane’s parents if they’ve ever seen a Sunny Lane movie.
“Have you actually seen her having adult-style sex on video?”
“We’ve fast-forwarded,” said her father. “All the way through, just fast-forwarded.”
“Why pop it in, dad?” Bonaduce asked him.
“The reason we pop the movie in and depending if she got the boxcover- that’s really nice itself- but I want to see the other girls. We’ve been married almost 30 years watching porn all this time and that’s about as far as we’ve gone. We’re really naive to a lot of this stuff. This is something that got thrown on to us, actually. She came to us and said, hey, I want to be an adult star and I want to do movies and I want to do all this- and we’re going, whoa, wait a minute.”
Bonaduce asked if it was also true that her father mails out Sunny’s underwear.
“Ah don’t,” said Mike.
“I do,” replied Shelby. “I got a pair for you all today. I forgot them.”
Asked if they were worn or new panties, Shelby said they were mostly new.
“A lot of guys want new ones.” But the going rate for used ones could be anywhere from $50 on up.
“There’s no sense in washing them,” she said.
Carolla wanted to know if Sunny was actually wearing those herself or were Mexicans taking a lap around the block in them.
“These are the real Sunny Lane,” replied Shelby. When the subject got on to authenticating Lane’s essence or smell, Mike said, “Every once in awhile the dog poops in the house.”
“Oh, he’s just being silly,” said Lane.
Carolla wondered what Mike did for a living.
“I can imagine the other guys at the plant- you show up- they’re giving you just a bit of a look.
“Please say law enforcement,” Carolla added.
“No sir- I was in the air freight business,” said Mike. “I did just about everything there was to do.”
“Now you’re retired and you’re working for your daughter full time,” Carolla mused. “Do you get crap? Do you have friends and family members yourself? What do the other family members think?”
Bonaduce brought up the trailer park and Lane immediately jumped in with the fact that she was raised “with good morals and good values.”
“I just applied that,” she added.
“I don’t want to be harsh- I don’t want to be mean,” Bonaduce continued. “But I want you to step back- my dad mails out my old underwear. One of you is F’d up. Think about that for a minute. I’m a nice girl, I skated, I hurt myself, but my daddy sends out my underwear to strangers.”
“My dad doesn’t send out the underwear,” Lane corrected.
“What does your dad do exactly?”
“He licks the envelopes,” Carolla replied.
“But what does he do?” Bonaduce repeated.
“He takes care of the computer and works on the website and checks over things,” Lane continued.
“He sees his daughter naked every single day,” Carolla pointed out.
“Having sex with strangers,” Bonaduce added.
Ron Jeremy then got on the phone. Jeremy said he’s worked with Lane in that they’ve done stills together.
“She’s very, very popular,” Jeremy pointed out. “She’s been nominated for lots of awards.” Jeremy said it wasn’t the first time that a porn performer had her parents working for her, mentioning Jewel De’Nyle.
Considering that alternatives, Jeremy said it’s a lot worse when parents hate what their daughter’s doing.
“I can see supporting your daughter, I can’t see profiting from it,” said Bonaduce. “One is supporting your child. One is a pimp.”
To that, Lane said she was in her mid twenties and old enough to make her own decisions.
“I also have a team,” Lane continued. “I have a publicist- April Storm. I have a mainstream agent…”
Lane drew laughs when she mentioned Storm’s name. Carolla thought she’d have a publicist named Norm Schwartz.
“I also have an agency for the adult industry which is Seymore Butts,” Lane continued, unfettered.
“I don’t have an issue with you,” laughed Bonaduce. “The Pimp Family Robinson I have an issue with.”
