RUSTON, LA – The twin brother of a New Orleans man who pleaded guilty to obscenity charges in Ruston has been arrested and accused of the same charges in Delhi.
Guy Birman, 23, twin brother of Dan Sasha Birman, was arrested Wednesday and accused of violating the state’s obscenity law. Guy Birman, who also lists New Orleans as his home, was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center after his arrest by Louisiana state police on Wednesday. Bond was set at $5,000.
Guy Birman’s arrest, along with that of Heather Arnold, 25, brings to seven the number of people arrested on obscenity charges in connection with the I-20 Bookstore in Delhi.
Dan Birman owned Fantasy Video, a large, pink building located on the Interstate 20 service road between Ruston and Grambling. As part of his plea bargain, Dan Birman agreed to not violate the state’s obscenity law and to close Fantasy Video. He was given a three-year suspended sentence.
Third District Attorney Bob Levy said he is watching the development of the case against the I-20 Bookstore and its owners with interest.
“If we are given proof that Dan Birman, the defendant in the Lincoln Parish obscenity case, has been involved in selling pornography since his sentencing, then immediate revocation of his probation will be sought,” Levy said.
The seven arrests in Delhi came as a result of a 10-month investigation by the Delhi Police Department, Richland Parish sheriff’s office and Louisiana state police.
The state police Bureau of Investigations took charge of the investigation, Delhi Police Chief Greg McKinney said. The investigation continues.
