PANAMA CITY- The News Herald has learned that 16 prescription pills and $700 in cash were found in “Girls Gone Wild” founder Joe Francis’ jail cell Wednesday night after Francis allegedly tried to bribe a guard for bottled water.

It’s uncertain whether Francis, who is in federal custody on contempt of court charges, will face state or federal charges. Possible charges include attempted bribery, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility and possession of a controlled substance.

If the state charges him and he’s convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 85 years in prison.

Francis is scheduled to be in federal court today at 1:30 p.m. for a bond hearing on the contempt of court charges.
