Ty Longley Remembered

WEST WARWICK, R.I. – The first anniversary of The Station nightclub tragedy drew hundreds to the site of the fire yesterday.

On February 20, 2003, a hundred people died in the blaze and another 200 were injured.

The fire started as the rock band Great White was playing its first song after eleven p-m Eastern time. Pyrotechnics in their act ignited foam used as soundproofing. The band’s guitarist, Ty Longley, died in the wooden, one-story club. The last victim died three months later.
