MPAA Opposes Ohio Strip Club Bill

COLUMBUS, Ohio (- Hollywood is objecting to a bill that would put new restrictions on Ohio strip clubs and other adult businesses.

Should the bill reach Governor Strickland, the Motion Picture Association of America wants him to veto it. The group is angered that the measure refers to its movie rating system.

The legislation would require adult book stores to end most activity at midnight. However, to make clear that mainstream theaters and video stores are exempted, the bill says a business shouldn’t be considered a sexually oriented one just because it’s offering material that’s rated “R” or “NC-17.”

A Strickland spokesman says the governor will consider the movie group’s position.
