Michigan- If you happened to pass by Daybreak Church in Hudsonville Sunday you may have seen something out of the ordinary in front, and it’s sending a message.

We’ve all heard the expression “There’s a huge elephant in the room, and everyone is pretending it’s not there.”

Using that expression, members of XXXChurch.com purchased and inflated a 25 foot elephant, and sent in on national tour.

The elephant represents an issue Pastor J.R. Mahon says most are afraid to talk about: pornography.

“It’s a 57-billion dollar a year problem, so for us, making a big 25 foot by 30 foot blow up elephant and then chucking them out into the country and having them tour all over the place is just a no brainer,” says Mahon.

He says 40 million people view some type of pornographic material everyday.

“XXX Church is all about raising awareness about the issues of pornography, and the fact that porn is literally destroying and ripping apart the fabric of our society.”

The elephant is being used to start the conversation.

“Just to try to get people to turn their head long enough to say, ‘You know what, porn is affecting my family, porn is affecting my job, porn is affecting my relationship with my wife or my spouse’,”, says Mahon.

Wes Dupin, senior pastor at Daybreak Church, says it’s not just the average person ignoring the issue, a lot churches are doing the same.

“We say let’s stop the hiding, let’s come out of the closet and say we can talk about this, and that it’s going to be okay.”

XXXChurch.com is a website pushing the issue, saying that pornography is truly an addiction and there is help.
