Las Vegas- A company probably best noted for the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bryanston Distributing, which specialized in cult and drive-in fare, is the mainstream arm of Arrow Productions, www.xxxdeepthroat.com.
And now, after 30 years, Bryanston announces its first mainstream release. It’s titled Ultimate Force.
Arrow/Bryanston head Ray Pistol describes it as a Van Damme-type flick starring UFC fighter Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic [pictured]. According to Pistol, the film will be out in the stores October 10.
“It’s got a whole bunch of Ultimate fighting guys in it,” Pistol also notes. According to Pistol, Filipovic plays an agent/assassin who’s given an assignment to take out some people in a target area. But because he goes soft and allows the daughter of one of the targets to go, this gets him in all kinds of trouble. In order to be re-programmed, Filipovic has to fight and defeat other assassins to get his killer instincts back.
“The reason he’s called Cro Cop is that he’s a Croatian policeman,” Pistol explains. “And he’s a martial arts fighter as well. I think he brought out half the Croatian army for this project. They’ve got all the goodies and toys, there’s lots of explosions and everybody gets killed.”
“This was not stunt work like Hollywood does,” Pistol continues. “They actually were punching. The fighting is real. And the target audience is the Ultimate fight fans out there. And the Van Damme crowd will like this movie as well. When these guys get hit, they get hit. But you see blood and it’s not fake blood. These guys are getting the hell knocked out of them.
Asked why the decision to release a new title after 30 years, Pistol explains, “We’ve be re-releasing our older stuff because it’s become retro, if you will. And this is a good movie.”
