ATLANTA – Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama says the jailing of a young Georgia man for ten years for having consensual sex with another teenager is an “injustice” when White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby was pardoned from his prison sentence.
Speaking at an awards banquet for the Atlanta-based Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Obama compared the penalty given Genarlow Wilson and that handed Libby.
He says it is an injustice when Wilson is handed a 10-year prison sentence for having sex at age 17 with a 15-year-old, www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=23618 and Libby is pardoned after being convicted for lying and obstructing the investigation into the leak of a CIA operative’s identity.
Though his sentence was overturned by a judge who called it a “grave miscarriage of justice,” Wilson is still in jail waiting for the Georgia Supreme Court to hear the appeal of his case.
