Porn Valley- With time drawing near for the very prestigious Kazakhstan Film Festival, I asked Arrow Production’s marketing director Robert Interlandi [pictured] if he was still going to make an appearance with the company’s horse drawn Corvette. After all, Deep Throat, www.xxxdeepthroat.com, is scheduled to be shown there and it’s important to put your best mule forward.
The festival is being held September 15-22 2007 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. And, originally, Arrow was contacted for permission to screen the movie. With the support of the U.S. State Department, the US Embassy, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Mayor of Almaty all thrown into the diplomatic mix, the original game plan was for Interlandi to hand deliver a 35mm print of Deep Throat and attend the first screening as a much “honored guest.”
But, lately, Adult Internet restrictions are tightening in Boratville and censorship has become something of an issue there. Even if that weren’t the case, Interlandi no longer thinks that it’s a sparkling P.R. move to attend. Interlani also notes that there’s a scheduling conflict because the Xbiz Film festival is being held the sane time.
“They’re going to play a bunch of our classic movies at Xbiz,” says Interlandi. “And the Deep Throat energy drink is going to be the official drink. But now I don’t know which one to go to, although I could go to either one.” Interlandi is saying some of this, you realize, with thick tongue in cheek.
I cautioned Interlandi about the trip to Kazakhstan, and he was already aware of some of the drawbacks.
“They probably want me to show up just to arrest somebody,” he laughs. “But I’m crazy. I’m like Borat.”
“But deluxe accommodations in a 2 by 4-sized cement tank may not be that suitable,” I tell him.
“It has to be just as bad as Mexico or worse,” he thinks. “So that’s up in the air, but the Xbiz Film Festival is for sure. I think LA might be safer.”
