Georgia- Authorities have dropped prostitution and drug charges against Nicole Probert in the so-called Mansion Madam case that riveted Gwinnett County and the nation with its sordid allegations of sexual misconduct in an exclusive neighborhood.
Gwinnett District Attorney Danny Porter said the charges against Probert, 30, were dropped about a week ago because she helped prosecutors in building cases against her co-defendants, in the Mansion Madam case and others as well.
One of Probert’s co-defendants, former Penthouse model Lisa Ann Taylor pleaded guilty in October to prostitution and drug charges. She was sentenced to seven years’ probation and ordered to pay $150,000.
“The ones we have left are people we have charged as the customers,” Porter said. “They haven’t been sentenced yet.”
Probert and Taylor, 43, were accused of running a brothel in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in metro Atlanta. Sugarloaf Country Club in Duluth is home to some high-profile entertainers and athletes.
Probert was charged with two counts of prostitution, one count of keeping a place of prostitution and one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
She and Taylor also were charged with felony counts of violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and of acquiring or maintaining property through the proceeds of a pattern of racketeering activity.
Probert’s attorney Steve Sadow said in October that his client would not accept a deal similar to Taylor’s, and expressed confidence that her case would be resolved without a trial or a guilty plea.
“Justice was done,” Sadow said Tuesday.
He would not say what kind of cooperation Probert extended to authorities.
